Russia intends to explore joint gas processing projects with Turkmenistan, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Konstantin Chuychenko said in an interview with the Turkmenistan State News Agency.
“We will make appropriate proposals to Russian companies so that they more actively study the possibility of participating in major energy projects in Turkmenistan, including in the sphere of deep gas processing, creating new plants, etc.,” he said.
Turkmenistan, according to British Petroleum's (BP) report, is the fourth largest country in terms of natural gas reserves and at this stage exports it to China and Iran. Negotiations are underway to resume gas supplies to Russia in 2019.
The gas chemical complex construction project worth more than $3.4 billion entered the final stage in the settlement of Kiyanly of the Balkan region of Turkmenistan.
The project is implemented by the Turkmengaz State Concern jointly with LG, Hyundai (South Korea) and TOYO (Japan) companies.
The plant’s commissioning will make it possible to annually produce 381,000 tons of polyethylene, 81,000 tons of polypropylene and other valuable products, as well as obtain up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of commercial gas.
