Two phases of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery have been put into operation, while the third phase will be commissioned by the end of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Ali Bakhtiar, a member of the Energy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, said in an interview with ILNA.

Therefore, there is no need for petrochemical plants for gasoline production, he said.

Bakhtiar said that despite an increase in gasoline consumption, its quality is in line with the Euro 4 standard.

He said Iran was an importer of gasoline during the period of previous sanctions.

However, there is no need for import, Bakhtiar added. He said that moreover, the country can export gasoline.

Meanwhile, gasoline is expected to rise from Euro 4 to Euro 5 standard, Bakhtiar said.

During the previous sanctions, Iran produced gasoline in petrochemical plants to meet the gasoline needs, he added.
