The Iranian border provincial officials are trying to reduce the amount of fuel smuggled out of the country by applying new approaches, Chairman of the Iranian Headquarters to Combat Smuggling of Goods and Foreign Exchange Ali Moayedi said, Trend reports via Tasnim news agency.
He said that last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), the amount of smuggling of fuel from the country dropped from 11 million liters to 8.5 million liters a day.
He added that smuggling of fuel from Iran may continue as long as the difference remains in the cost of fuel inside and outside the country, and it is impossible to completely stop this process just by launching certain mechanisms.
He noted that smuggling of foreign currency worth about $13 million from Iran was prevented last Iranian year.
