Iran's NIOPDC rejects news of fuel rationing to multiple car owners

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.21

Trend:

National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company has dismissed the rumors of gasoline rationing for owners of multiple cars.

"The fuel rationing is currently assigned to all vehicles and so far no other policy has been announced," said NIOPDC announcement, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"It is to be noted that the fuel rationing of current month will be saved on fuel cards of individuals and car owners who has not used them, so that it could be used in the following months," said the announcement.

NIOPDC also said that local police forces are ready to assist drivers who haven't obtained their fuel cards yet.

Iran’s government has begun rushing out promised direct payments to 60 million Iranians, in a sign that the regime has been spooked by the scale of protests against petrol price rises announced last week.

In some cases petrol prices are being raised by as much as 300%.
