An international open tender has been announced for obtaining a license for the extraction of petroleum products at XIH block in the Georgian Sagarejo (Kakheti region) and Gardabani (Kvemo-Kartli region), Trend reports citing the Georgian State Agency of Oil and Gas.
The area of this territory is 194.5 square kilometers. The application deadline is March 2, 2020, after which the applications will be published.

To date, 23 agreements on oil production in various territories of the country have been drawn up in Georgia. A license for oil refining was issued to three companies.
Georgia on average consumes about 1.2 million tons of oil products and about 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Hydrocarbons (oil and gas) are mainly imported from Azerbaijan, Russia, Romania and Bulgaria.
