Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry talks co-op with IRENA

The Renewables Readiness Assessment (RRA) report for Azerbaijan is an example of the country’s cooperation with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov told Trend.

Shahbazov said that recommendations on this project were provided, noting that they ensure creation of favorable investment environment in order to support using potential of renewable energy sources.

“Many of these recommendations are consistent with the steps taken by the ministry regarding the development of renewable energy,” the minister added.

Shahbazov reminded that Azerbaijan has been cooperating with IRENA since 2009, and has been a full member of the organization since 2014.

“During this time, the partnership relations between Azerbaijan and IRENA have developed significantly,” the minister noted.

IRENA is an intergovernmental organization that promotes the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, including bioenergy, geothermal, hydropower, ocean, solar and wind energy in the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security and low-carbon economic growth and prosperity.
