Trend:

Iran's power industry annually needs $1.2 billion foreign revenues from the electricity export to regional countries, said Minister of Energy.

"Among the neighboring countries, Iraq is our most important customer," said Reza Ardakanian, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The debt of Ministry of Energy to contractors is $10 billion, while the government is also in debt to the ministry and there should be necessary cooperation to find a proper solution," he said. "The ministry is expected to support 250 construction plans and invest $11 billion in all provinces in current Iranian year [started March 20, 2020]."

"These projects include thermal and renewable power plants, operating small scale power plants and installing transmission lines," Ardakanian said.

" Forty-two dams out of 186 under construction reservoir dams were already commissioned and 50 dams will be put into operation next Iranian year [starts March 21, 2021]," he said.

"Iran's thermal power plants efficiency was 38.6 percent in last Iranian year [started March 21, 2019] and it is predicted to reach 39 percent by the end of current Iranian year," he added.

"Combined cycle power plants can reduce gas consumption and environmental pollution, so the parliament should develop and adopt corresponding law. Furthermore, 7,500 megawatt steam units should be added to plants," he said.
