Turkmenistan to attract investments in fuel, energy sector

Fuel and energy sector of Turkmenistan should attract foreign investment, said President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Trend reports with reference to Online Newspaper of Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan.

The president made the remarks during the meeting of the country's Cabinet of Ministers.

The president said that the main goal of Turkmenistan's energy policy is the effective use of natural resources for sustainable growth and expansion of export opportunities, improving the welfare of the country's population.

The head of state also signed a document submitted by Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel and Energy Affairs of Turkmenistan Myratgeldi Meredov on further development of cooperation between the Turkmennebit State Concern with foreign partners.

Meredov spoke about the work carried out in the country to improve the activities of fuel and energy companies, as well as about international commercial projects related to oil and gas production in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea.

In the first four months of 2020, the volume of investments into the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan amounted to more than 3.73 billion Turkmen manat (over $1 billion), which is 1.3 billion manat (over $371 million) more than in the same period of last year.
