Iran's Energy Ministry to assign some of its duties to municipalities

TEHRAN, Iran, July 9

Iran's Ministry of Energy is ready to assign some of its responsibilities related to water and power sectors to municipalities across the country, said minister Reza Ardakanian, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The Ministry of Energy is fully prepared to have scheduled cooperation based on a timeline and avoid any rush in this regard, so can assign some of its responsibilities," said Ardakanian.

"The ministry has also aimed to gradually assigning some of its plans to city councils and related administrations. The parliament has plans to continue with this approach," he added.

"Our colleagues in the water, power and sewage sector believe it is possible to transfer these responsibilities," he said.

Ardakanian said that since currently 82.5 percent of people in villages have access to clean water, the ministry expects to go on with the plan, as it is its responsibility.
