Steam units of TPPs to be built in Iran

As many as 46 steam units will be built at Iran's Thermal Power Plants (TPPs), said Hamid Sardari, deputy director of Thermal Power Plant Holding Company, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to Sardari, with the commissioning of these units, about 7,500 megawatts of electricity will be added to Iran's electricity generation and more than 12 billion cubic meters of gas will be saved per year.

He added that at present, 21 steam units of 160 megawatts are being built at Parand, Kashan, Sabalan, Ferdowsi, Asaluyeh, Chabahar, Urmia, Rudshur and Jahrom power plants.

The official emphasized that according to the plan, the steam units will be put into operation at Ferdowsi, Sabalan and Jahrom TPPs by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020-March 21, 2021).

"In total, with the commissioning of these units, 960 megawatts of electricity will be added to Iran's electricity network," he said.

Sardari noted that in addition, necessary steps are being taken to lay the foundations for 25 new units.
