Turkey plans to participate in energy projects of Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 25

Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov met with the delegation from Turkey headed by Head of the Planning and Budget Commission in Turkish Grand National Assembly, Lutfi Elvan and CEO of Cengiz Holding, Mehmet Cengiz on August 24, 2020, in Tashkent, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The talks were organized within the framework of the official visit of the Turkish delegation to Uzbekistan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the parties noted the high level of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey, based on the friendly relations among both countries

Alisher Sultanov also congratulated the head of the Turkish delegation on the discovery of a large natural gas field in Turkey's shelf on the Black Sea - "Tuna-1". Projected reserves at the gas field are estimated at 320 billion cubic meters.

The members of the Turkish delegation, in their turn, noted the efficiency of reforms being carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan in various social and economic spheres of the country, including the fuel and energy complex.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the further development of the joint Uzbek-Turkish project on the building of a thermal power plant in Uzbekistan.

Lutfi Elvan noted the interest of the Turkish side in signing the relevant agreements within the project as soon as possible.

The Uzbek side expressed willingness to provide all necessary support to implement already planned projects and discuss new mutually beneficial proposals.

As a result of negotiations, the parties agreed to organize visits to the proposed sites for the construction of thermal power plants and to make the necessary calculations under the project.
