Operations launched to increase production at Iran's Marun oil field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3

The operations have been launched to increase extraction in the Marun oil field in the Ramshir county of Khuzestan Province, (southwestern Iran), Managing Director of National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) Ahmad Mohammadi said at the event dedicated to the launch of the operation, Trend reports citing NISOC.

According to Mohammadi, the operations have been launched in the 2nd and 5th phases of the Marun oil field to maintain and increase extraction from 28 reservoirs in the territory of the National Iranian South Oil Company.

Mohammadi added that 14 wells will be drilled and repaired in these phases. The director emphasized that 73 million euro will be spent on these operations.

"Thus, about 2.92 million euro (4 percent) of the 73 million euro will be spent on social responsibility plans," he said.

On August 17, a contract was signed between Iran's Marun Oil & Gas Production Company (MOGPC) and Iranian E&P Negin Afagh Kish Energy Development Co. (TENCO) related to with the 2nd, 5th and 6th phases of Iran's Marun field.

According to the contract, the extraction will increase by 53,000 barrels per day due to the work to be done related to with the 2nd and 5th phases.
