The project for the construction of a bioelectric station will be implemented in Kazakhstan’s Zhezkazgan city of Karaganda region, Trend reports citing the regional akimat (administrative center).

A total of 35 small and medium businesses worth 2 billion tenge ($4.6 million) will be established in the city in 2021. Currently, the SMEs share in the city’s economy amounts to 16 percent, and this indicator is to be increased to 20 percent by 2021.

The implementation of the project for the construction of a bioelectric station will be launched in 2021, the implementing country will be KazGreenEnergy JSC. The plant will operate based on “green” technology, which oversees the use of municipal solid waste as raw materials.

Furthermore, new tourism projects will be put into operation in the Ulytau district of the Karaganda region.

Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Magzum Mirzagaliyev said earlier this year that the Waste to Energy technology can be of interest to private investors.

“Next year we plan to hold the first auctions among investors for the construction of such a plant. Whoever presents the lowest cost of electricity will win the auction. The corresponding bill has already been prepared and approved by the Parliament’s Majilis. The Senate of the Parliament is to consider the bill in autumn,” he said.
