The Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan has exceeded the plan for the production of products, works carried out and services rendered in 2020, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
This was stated by Energy Minister Charymurat Purchekov at the working meeting on the development of the construction industry, held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
So, according to the ministry, the plan for the production of products, works carried out and services rendered for January through December of 2020 was exceeded by 24 percent. The plan for industrial production was exceeded by 28.3 percent.
During the period under review, the electricity production plan was exceeded by 8.4 percent, with a growth rate of 20.2 percent.
In 2020, the plan for the export of electricity was exceeded by more than 2 times.
It was reported that the intense pace under construction of the Turkmen section of the project transmission line Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan, ring of the country's energy Akhal-Balkan and Balkan-Dashoguz, gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 432 MW in Lebap region, as well as the Center of the repair and maintenance of power equipment in Ashgabat city.
Turkmenistan is expected to grow electricity exports by 8.7 percent by 2025.
The construction of new power plants, power transmission lines, modern transformer substations and switchgears will contribute to the growth of exports.
Earlier, Turkmen Ministry of Energy said that there are opportunities to transit Turkmen electricity through Afghanistan to Tajikistan, Pakistan and India.
Turkmenistan plans to generate up to 35.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2030.
