Azerbaijan exported slightly over 1 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas worth more than $87.6 million to Turkey in January 2021, Trend reports on Feb.22 referring to the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee.
According to the bulletin, in the reporting month, the total volume of Azerbaijan’s natural gas export was 1.12 bcm, while the export value – over $100 million. The share of Turkey in the Azerbaijani gas exports made up 90 percent.
Last year, Azerbaijan exported more than 12.4 bcm of natural gas, which is 0.8 percent less than in 2019. Besides, the value of exported natural gas made up about $2.19 billion (an increase of 7.2 percent compared to the previous year), said the bulletin.
In 2020, trade turnover between the two countries grew by $187.2 million compared to the previous year, exceeding $2.2 billion, of which more than $1.8 billion fell on export from Turkey to Azerbaijan, and $366 million – on import of Azerbaijani products by Turkey.
