The second combined cycle plant at the Takhiatash thermal power plant (TPP) in the Karakalpakstan Republic of Uzbekistan has been launched at full capacity, and functional tests are currently underway, Trend reports citing Thermal Power Plants JSC.

According to the information, the second combined cycle plant at the Takhiatash thermal power plant has been launched within the framework of the investment project for the construction of two combined cycle gas turbines with a capacity of 280 MW.

It is noted that this investment project is being implemented on the basis of the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated September 11, 2017.

It is reported that the first combined cycle gas turbine unit at the 280 MW plant was launched at full capacity in December 2020.

Thermal Power Plants JSC noted that the technical and economic indicators of the station will increase with the implementation of the project.

“As a result, the specific consumption of equivalent fuel used to generate 1 kWh of electricity will be reduced by 164.3 g kWh, which will save 488.6 million cubic meters of natural gas per year,” the message said.
