The Kangan Petro Refining Company's recovery ethane plant in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) will soon be officially put into operation, the Executive Director of the company Hamid Ghaderi said, Trend reports citing the Iranian National Petrochemical Company’s website.

Ghaderi noted that the plant will bring $1 billion worth of revenue annually.

The director added that a total of $970 million has been spent on the construction of the plant. The plant is currently operating on an emergency basis and can produce 3.5 million tons of products per year.

“Thus, the plant will produce 1.75 million tons of ethane, 1 million tons of propane, 500,000 tons of butane and 250,000 tons of pentane annually,” he said.

Ghaderi stressed that the ethane recovery plant will receive annually 21 million tons of fuel from the South Pars Gas Company's 9th refinery.

According to him, an olefin plant is currently under construction at the company. There is about 45-percent progress in the construction work. The plant is estimated to be put into operation by the end of next Iranian year (March 20, 2022).
