Georgia increases imports of electricity from Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia imported 499.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Azerbaijan from January through April 2021, Trend reports via the Georgian Energy Market Operator (ESCO).

As reported, this is 89.9 million kilowatt-hours, or 22 percent, more compared to the same period last year (409.3 million kilowatt-hours).

The share of Azerbaijani electricity in the total import of Georgia in the specified period amounted to 29.4 percent.

In the reporting period, Russia was the main exporter of electricity to Georgia with an indicator of 1.03 billion kilowatt-hours.

Georgia during this period as a whole imported 1.69 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
