Iran’s Khuzestan Province uses electricity generated by private sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) has used some 800 megawatt-hours of electricity generated by the private sector as of the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2021), Spokesman for Iran's Southwest Electricity Department Kiyoumars Zamani said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

Zamani said that due to the drought, electricity generation of hydroelectric power plants in Khuzestan Province was reduced by 60 percent. Because of this, electricity generated by three private companies will be used for the next 4 months.

“Thus, 520 megawatt hours of electricity are supplied to the country's electricity network from the Persian Gulf Fajr Power Company's power plants, 260 megawatt hours from the West Karun Power Plant, which is used to supply gas to the oil fields southwest of Ahvaz city, and about 20 megawatt hours from the power plants of the Abadan Oil Refining Company,” he added.

The spokesman noted that as a result of the addition of the electricity to the electricity network of the province, the supply of electricity in Khuzestan Province did not stop.
