Azerbaijan shares data on electricity exports for 8M2021

Azerbaijan exported more than 505.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to Georgia from January through August 2021, or 52 percent of the total exported electricity, Trend reports with reference to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy.

The ministry’s statement reads that 238.9 million kilowatt-hours were exported to Iran over the reporting period, 164.1 million kilowatt-hours - to Turkey, 63.7 million kilowatt-hours - to Russia.

According to the ministry, during the specified period, the production of electricity in Azerbaijan amounted to over 18.6 billion kilowatt-hours.

“At the same time, the export of electricity amounted to 971.9 million kilowatt-hours, having increased by 142.2 million kilowatt-hours in annual terms. Electricity imports during this period amounted to 110.6 million kilowatt-hours,” the ministry said.

From January through August 2021, Azerbaijan’s Azerenerji OJSC produced over 16.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, including thermal power plants – nearly 15.9 billion kilowatt-hours, hydroelectric power plants - 844.4 million kilowatt-hours.
