TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.15
Trend:
Iran's power industry is seeking to expand export to European countries alongside neighbors, said a member of the energy commission in Iran Chamber of Commerce, Trend reports citing ILNA.
Iran can transform into a regional power hub and can transit and trade electricity to neighbor countries with high demands such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Persian Gulf states, Payam Bagheri noted.
Iran can export electricity to European countries by using different transmission corridors. There have been studies about power transmission from Iran to Russia and there has been progress in negotiations between the two countries, he indicated.
Azerbaijan and Georgia could be interconnection routes for Iran to export electricity to Russia, Turkey, Georgia, and Ukraine are potential corridors that could connect and transmit electricity from Iran to Eastern Europe.
The country is eyeing synchrony in power networks to transfer electricity from Iraq to Syria, Lebanon, and Europe.
