Gas consumption in Iran expected to increase

Gas consumption in Iran’s household sector is expected to increase by about 50 million cubic meters daily, due to cold weather, deputy of dispatching center at the National Iranian Gas Company Masoud Kazemi told IRIB, Trend reports.

According to Kazemi, on Nov. 16, Iran produced about 800 million cubic meters of gas, of which about 500 million cubic meters (60 percent) was consumed in the household sector.

The deputy added that if gas consumption continues to increase, Iran may face shortage of supply to certain sectors.

Reportedly, Iran's gas extraction capacity is more than 1 billion cubic meters per day.

Over the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Iran extracted an average of 879 million cubic meters of gas daily, consumed 701 million cubic meters and exported 46.3 million cubic meters.
