BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. A number of facilities on flare gas collection will be commissioned in Iran in the next 2-3 years, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said, Trend reports referring to the Shana News Agency.

According to the minister, since the current Iranian government took office (August 2021), 28 contracts worth about 1 billion euro have been signed in the country for the collection of flare gas.

“Along with the mentioned contracts, there are a number of projects for flare gas collection in the country. By the end of the current Iranian government (August 2025), steps will be taken to collect flare gas,” he added.

Owji emphasized that currently, flare gases are burned in the country, which results in environmental pollution. Once collected, flare gas will be used in petrochemical plants.

The minister also pointed out that in order to increase the country's refining capacity, work is underway to build 5 oil refineries and 3 gas condensate plants in Iran.

“The Iranian Oil Ministry will build a refinery in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) with a refining capacity of 300,000 barrels per day,” he said.

Owji noted that in the next 3-4 years, Iran's refining capacity will increase and there will be no need to import oil products.
