BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. The drilling of a well in the Iran-Qatar joint Bilal gas field was successfully completed, on January 15, 2023, an official of Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), Mohammad Hossein Motajalli said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.
The official noted that the mentioned well has been drilled in order to evaluate the product from the Bilal field.
He also added that this well reached the first layer of the reservoir as planned and the flare started burning in the drilling rig.
According to Motajalli, after the successful drilling of the well, a tender for the drilling of 8 more development wells will be held.
The official said that the jackets for wells in the Bilal gas field are also produced in Iran domestically.
“Along with all this, Iran plans to hold tenders for the construction and installation of a gas platform with a capacity to produce 500 million cubic feet (about 14 million cubic meters) of rich gas per day, as well as the construction of a 150 km long pipeline to transport the gas to land,” he pointed out.
Motajalli also pointed out that the relevant contractor companies will be determined by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2023), and the companies are expected to start operating in the first three months of the next Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023).
Bilal gas field is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. This field is estimated to contain about 3 trillion cubic feet (about 85 billion cubic meters) of gas and 100 million barrels of gas condensate. Iran intends to produce 500 million cubic feet (about 14 million cubic meters) and 15,000 barrels of gas condensate daily from this field.
Iran's South Pars, Bilal and several other oil and gas fields are operating under Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC). On September 14, 2019, a contract on the development of the Bilal gas field was signed between Iran's Petropars Operation and Management Company (POMC) and the POGC.
