BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. Iran’s Shazand Oil Refining Company saves 80 million euros a year by producing various devices and related items domestically, said Majid Rajabi, executive director of his company, Trend reports.

These items, which are essential for the refinery’s operations, used to be imported from abroad.

Rajabi noted that more than 17,000 devices and related items are made by local start-ups in Markazi Province, where the refinery is located.

He also said that the company has signed a 7 million euro contract with a start-up to make spare parts for its gas turbines, which will enable the country to produce its own gas turbine parts for oil refineries.

The director also mentioned that the refinery, which processes 250,000 barrels of crude oil per day, produces six main petroleum products: gasoline, diesel, white oil, mazut, liquefied gas and jet fuel.

The Shazand (Imam Khomeini) Oil Refining Company was launched in 1993 with the capacity to process 150,000 barrels of oil per day. The company currently processes more than 250,000 barrels of oil.

It also produces more than 17 million liters of gasoline and 12 million liters of diesel in accordance with the Euro 4 standard as well as 500 tons of propylene, 400 tons of granular sulfur and 2,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day.

On June 14, 2023, the catalyst of the RFCC plant was put into use at the Shazand Oil Refining Company in the Markazi Province of Iran. This catalyst accelerates the process of breaking down the molecule in the crude oil refining process. The catalyst is heat resistant to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. This catalyst is composed of 16 different substances. The catalyst was produced over 10 years with the cooperation of the Shazand Oil Refining Company and a local start-up company.
