BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 15. Italy received 10.705 bcm of gas through the Southern Gas Corridor in 2023, which is 30.4 percent more than in 2022, Trend reports.
According to Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee (SCC), revenue from gas supplies to Italy in 2023 amounted to $8 billion, which is 27.1 percent less than the figure of 2022. This is due to a decrease in global gas prices in 2023.
The SCC maintains export statistics based on declarations. The declaration for gas sold to a customer is submitted after a commercial transaction, not a technical pumping of gas, so the SCC figures differ slightly from other statistical data.
According to the SCC's similar calculations based on customs declarations, Azerbaijan sold over 13 bcm of gas to the EU in 2023.
Technically, the EU received physical volumes of 11.8 bcm through the pipeline.
