SOCAR TO ADOPT BASIC PROJECT ON NEW COMPLEX OF HIGH-OCTANE QUALITY PETROL PRODUCTION

Oil&Gas Materials 18 August 2005 12:53 (UTC +04:00)

By the end of 2005 the SOCAR intends to start a process of selection of a major consumer on construction of two new rigs in the base of Heydar Aliyev oil refinery plant (ORP), under a program on upgrade of the plant, which targets increase of ecologically pure oil products. The ORP told Trend that in September it is planned to adopt a basic project of a new complex on production on high-octane petrol, including the construction of Alkylene, Oxypro and Butamer rigs.

Upon completion of basic engineering of the complex, it is planned to set up a detailed engineering. В"it is difficult to cite the cost of construction, as the world prices change permanently,” the same said.

UOP Limited signed a contract with the SOCAR on designing of a new complex for production of a high-octane.

Alkylene rig is the first commercial example in the world for engine fuel alkylation technologies (an innovation UOP), which uses hard catalysts instead of liquid acid for alkylation of C4-olefines with isobutane. Alkylene rig will produce alkalit of engine fuel (300,000 tons a year) and Oxypro (130,000 tons a year) components of high-octane petrol (DIPE), used for production of ecologically pure petrol.

The project work under rig construction will take nearly a year, while indirect construction will last around 2.5 years.
