Additional talks to be held to sign an agreement on Kazakh oil transportation via BTC

An international agreement on joint oil pumping via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export oil pipeline can be signed in May or June of 2006. As result of talks held in Baku in this connection some issue were left unresolved. The positions of the sides does not coincide yet, Vagif Aliyev, the head of the Foreign Investments Department of the SOCAR told Trend.

Next round of talks on the level of experts will be organized on 1 May 2006.

An agreement on oil transpiration from Kazazkhstan is needed in particular for 4 participants of the BTC involved in the Kazakhs section of the Caspian. Under the project it is planned to deliver 500,000 tons of oil a day not earlier than 2010 under the Aktau-Baku pipeline. It is planned to build a pipeline till Kurik village, the terminal with the discharge capacity of 750,000 barrels of oil a day and an oil fleet.
