On 8 February the Coalition on Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) held a meeting dedicated to results of 2006 and plans for 2007, Trend reports. The conference estimated 2006 as a successful year in the activities of the Coalition. Speakers to the conference noted that too many projects were implemented in this sphere with the financial support of the World Bank, Ebert Foundation, Oxfam Novib and Counterpart.
As to plans for 2007, in his remarks Gubad Ibadoglu, a newly appointed EITI coordinator, said that this year the Coalition will not change its policy and strategy and continue its activities.
