SOCAR Constructs New Gas Pipeline

Azrbaijan, Baku / Trend / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has began the construction of a 27km high-pressure gas pipeline connecting Sangachal terminal and Garadagh underground gas pipelines.

The purpose of the construction is to meet the population's demand of fuel during winter and to store the gas produced at Shah Deniz field. The carrying capacity of the pipeline will exceed 10mln cu m per 24 hours. Anticorrosive pipes with 720mm diameter and 16mm thick have been purchased in Ukraine.

A SOCAR trust Neftgaztikinti (Oil Gas Construction) will construct 14km of the pipeline. Welding work has been completed in 4km of the pipeline. AzFren company will build 13km of the pipeline. The initial cost of the construction has been assessed in AZN 22mln. The pipeline will be put into operation by June 2007.
