Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend A.Badalova / Thomas Giesel, Vice President of E.ON Ruhrgas, stated in an interview with Trend that E.ON Ruhrgas is responsible for the supply of natural gas for the entire E.ON Group.
For that reason it could be interesting for us to purchase natural gas from the Caspian region not only for the German market but also for markets that are geographically closer, such as Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania where E.ON already has substantial positions, he stressed. "The main criteria for our (E.ON Ruhrgas) gas supply, in addition to the price issue, are the balanced mix of our supply sources and their long-term security," Giesel said.
E.ON Ruhrgaz AG is huge energy company, which employs 66,000 people. This company was established as a result of the merger of VEBA and VIAG companies in 2000. In 2004 Ruhrgaz.gas company joined this alliance.
In general, Turkmenistan gas is interesting also for the German market. Nevertheless, at the moment, it seems to be more competitive with regards to markets which are geographically closer to Turkmenistan, the E.ON Ruhrgas Vice President stated.
