New Companies to Replace Operator for Kashagan Project

Kazakhstan, Astana / Trend corr. К.Кonirova / Agip consortium participants Total and ExxonMobil, are attempting to replace the Italian company Eni, informative sources from the oil sector reported.

"We consider that the economic balance was broken in contradiction with Kazakhstan, all the corresponding demands have been submitted and currently friendly negotiations are being held to resolve the difficulties. If participants of the consortium of Agip do not agree with the demands of Kazakhstan then we have plan b," the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, said during the second Eurasian Energy Forum on 6 September.

Current steps were made independently from unstable prices of oil. "I can say that the Kazakhstan Government has immunity from resource nationalism," he said.

Despite its principal position the government is ready to engage in dialogues.

The Prime Minister officially invited the Paulo Skaroni, head of the Italian Eni company, and the European Commission on Energy, Andrias Piebalgs, to Kazakhstan.

In his interview the representative of one of the biggest oil company-participants of Kashgan project said "We propose to the Kazakhstan Government to divide all risks with us, particularly, man-caused and nature character, which may carry consortium by development of fields.
