Microlending in Kazakhstan increases significantly

As many as 157 microfinance institutions with total assets of 286.5 billion tenge were operating in Kazakhstan in the beginning of this year, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

This is 1.5 times more than last year. At the same time, the share of microloans in the asset portfolio declined from 84.9 to 76.5 percent.

The total volume of microloans of Kazakh microfinance institutions increased by 37 percent over 2018 and amounted to 219.1 billion tenge at the end of the year.

The Top-20 microfinance institutions of the country accounted for 93.2 percent of the total microloans issued.

OnlineKazFinance was the leader in terms of the annual growth of microloans: the increase made up 10.4 times, issued microloans of 5.7 billion tenge .

Kyzylorda Regional Investment Center ranked second with an increase of 2.4 times, to 3.5 billion tenge. MiG Credit Astana was third with a growth of 2.3 times, to 1.4 billion tenge.

At the same time, KMF was the leader in terms of the total amount of issued microloans: 117.4 billion tenge, 53.6 percent of the total microloans issued in the country. Toyota Financial ranked second with a share of 14 percent, 30.6 billion tenge.
