Volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia down in April 2020

The volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia constituted $79.1 million in April 2020, Trend reports referring to National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

This is 42.3 percent ($58 million) less than in April 2019.

Some 89.6 percent of the total money transfers from abroad came from 12 largest partner countries, with the volume of transfers from these countries each exceeding $1 million.

In April 2020, Georgia received money transfers worth $34.66 million from the EU countries, including $13.36 million from Italy, $10.15 million from Greece, $3.73 million from Germany, $1.59 million from Spain, $1.47 million from Poland, and $1.02 million from France.

As reported, $13.12 million was sent to Georgia from Russia, $9.74 million from the US, $6.87 million from Israel, $5.33 million from Turkey, $2.44 million from Azerbaijan, and $2 million from Ukraine.

In April 2020, $10 million was transferred from Georgia abroad, which is 47.7 percent less compared to $19.1 million in April 2019.
