Around 1,430 kilograms of gold were mined in Azerbaijan from January through May 2020, which is 2.6 percent more compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
In the reporting period, the volume of silver extracted in the country increased by 29.8 percent compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the total volume of extracted silver and concentrates amounted to 3,200 kilograms.
In the first five months of 2020, over 1 million tons of copper ore and concentrates were mined in Azerbaijan, with an increase of 24.8 percent over the year.
As of June 1, 2020, the finished goods reserves of copper ore amounted to 360.3 tons, gold ore - 242.6 kilograms, silver ore - 348.8 kilograms.
There are two companies operating in precious metal mining in Azerbaijan: Anglo Asian Mining and state-owned AzerGold CJSC.
