Ukraine may increase investments in Turkmenistan's oil, gas sector

There is significant potential to increase Ukraine's investments in Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine told Trend.

In particular, such spheres include oil, gas, oil refining, chemical industries, as well as infrastructure projects.

Ukrainian MFA pointed out that economic cooperation between the two countries has great potential and prospects.

“This includes a possible increase of Ukraine's engineering products, electric industry products to Turkmenistan," said the MFA. "Also, large-scale infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan: construction of bridges, regional airports, underpasses, mudflows, subways, etc."

The following Ukrainian companies are currently supplying various equipment to Turkmenistan: AvtoKrAZ, Zaporizhіa Mechanical Plant, Kryukov Railway Car Building Works, DEG, Interpipe, InterCargoTruck, Universal Drilling Technique, LLC, Motor Sich, Altcom, СA Interbudmontazh.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian officials believe that the country's economic relations with Turkmenistan could be improved, as there's a lot of untapped potential.

On April 2, 2020, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a telephone conversation, where the sides agreed to strengthen political and economic ties between two countries.

“The Heads of Foreign Ministries of both countries held a phone conversation and agreed to facilitate direct contacts between Ukrainian and Turkmen companies, which will contribute to the growth of trade and investment,” the MFA said.

During the same telephone call, the Heads of Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Turkmenistan expressed their desire to conduct in the near future negotiations between Ukrainian and Turkmen companies interested in cooperation.
