By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

The share of Azerbaijan’s non-oil enterprises involved in output of deep processing products in the country’s GDP has recently grown, Acting Director of the Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy Arzu Huseynova told Trend on July 6.

At the same time, according to her, the share of enterprises in related industries has also shown growth.

“In Azerbaijan, industry accounts for 37.7 percent of GDP. The industrial potential of Azerbaijan is mainly formed through the oil sector enterprises,” she said.

Speaking about the ongoing reforms in the country, Huseynova stressed that the economic transformations have already yielded results.

"Namely for this reason the World Bank included Azerbaijan in the ranking of 20 most reformatory countries in 2019 (according to the 'Doing Business Report')," she said.

The acting director also stressed that the main goal of the reforms is to develop the agricultural and non-industrial sectors.

"Owing to the reforms in the country, the export of agricultural products from Azerbaijan began to grow. On the other hand, for overcoming the slowdown in the economic development caused by the [COVID-19] pandemic, the government has focused on the private sector support mechanisms," she added.
