Money supply in Azerbaijan shows year-on-year increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 28

The volume of money supply in Azerbaijan as of September 1, 2020 reached 26.9 billion manat ($15.8 billion), which is 211.6 million manat ($124.4 million) or 0.8 percent more than at the beginning of August, Trend reports citing data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to CBA, the volume of money supply decreased as of the early September, 2020 by 6.7 percent or 1.9 billion manat ($1.1 billion) compared to the beginning of this year, and grew by 1.4 billion manat ($820 million) or 5.6 percent compared to the early 2019.

Reportedly, the volume of money supply outside banks as of September 1, 2020 amounted to 9.8 billion manat ($5.7 billion), which is 1.3 percent or 125.3 million manat ($73.7 million) more than at the beginning of August 2020, as well as 15.3 percent or 1.3 billion manat ($760 million) more than as of the early September 2019.

The money supply is the aggregate of cash and non-cash funds in circulation.
