The turnover on debit and credit cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.38 billion manat ($1.4 billion) from January through October 2020, which is 9.6 percent more compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing a statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the bulletin, the total number of transactions with payment cards during this period amounted to 19.1 million, showing an increase of 24.4 percent. In monetary terms, this figure amounted to 2.4 billion manat ($1.41 billion). As many as 2.03 million transactions carried out outside the country, the amount of which equaled 104 million manat ($61.2 million).
At the same time, the number of transactions on debit cards (both within the country and abroad) amounted to 16.3 million, the amount of which was 2.22 million manat ($1.31 million). Of these, 6.8 million transactions worth 1.64 million manat ($970,000) were carried out through ATMs inside the country, and through POS terminals - 3.03 million transactions in the amount of 227 million manat ($133.6 million).
By credit cards (both within the country and abroad), bank clients carried out 2.8 million transactions totaling 156 million manat ($91.8 million). At the same time, 261,000 transactions for 42 million manat ($24.7 million) were carried out using ATMs inside the country, and 1.4 million transactions for 59 million manat ($34.7 million) - using POS terminals inside the country.
The number of payment cards increased by 27.9 percent as of late October 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, reaching 9.13 million units
