The total volume of transactions on government securities at the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 7.66 billion manat ($4.5 billion) from January through November 2020, and their number - 1,567, Trend reports citing the BSE.
Some 1,029 transactions worth 6.7 billion manat ($3.94 billion), which is about 88 percent of the total, were made in the primary market. Of these, more than 83 percent of transactions (689) were made on short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) for a total of 5.6 billion manat ($3.29 billion).
“The secondary market for government securities accounted for 538 transactions totaling 937.8 million manat ($551.6 million). Their share was 8.2 percent of the total amount and 12.2 percent of the total number of transactions in government securities,” the BSE said.
“The volume of repo transactions on government securities amounted to 1.76 billion manat ($1.03 billion). In the first 11 months of 2020, 1,094 repo transactions in government securities were carried out at the BSE,” the BSE report reads.
In 2019, the number of concluded transactions increased by 6.7 percent and amounted to 5,234.
The capitalization of the BSE on the last trading day of November 2020 increased by 10 percent compared to the beginning of the year, amounting to 2.71 billion manat ($1.6 billion).
