Annual remittance inflows from Azerbaijan to Georgian up

Annual remittance inflows from Azerbaijan to Georgian grew by 133 percent on December 7-13 and by 59 percent on December 14-20, Trend reports via TBC Capital.

It is noteworthy that the growth of remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia was at a two-digit indicator on December 14-20 and for the last three weeks of October only. For the entire year, they were at a three-digit indicator. More precisely, remittance inflows from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 37 percent in the week of October 26 and December 1 if compared to the same timeframe of the previous year. On October 25-31, remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia went up by 44 percent and by 60 percent on October 19-25.

Remittance inflows from Armenia also grew by 32 percent on December 14-20, while on December 7-13, they fell by 32 percent.

Annual remittances from Russia to Georgia went down by 20 percent, while the country experienced a 6 percent increase in remittances from the Middle East countries, including Turkey.

Overall remittances in Georgia went down by 5 percent on December 14-20 if compared to that of the previous week.

Azerbaijan is Georgia's second-largest export partner after China, accounting for 13.2 percent of Georgia's total exports.

From January through November, Georgia imported goods from Azerbaijan worth $431.7 million. With a share of 6 percent in Georgia's total imports, Azerbaijan ranks fifth among Georgia's main import partners after Turkey, Russia, China, and the US.
