Baku Stock Exchange talks transactions on gov't securities for Jan.2021

The total volume of transactions on government securities at the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 1.32 billion manat ($776.4 million) by early February 2021, and their number was 237, Trend reports citing the BSE report.

According to the report, 164 transactions worth 1.15 billion manat ($676.4 million, 87.7 percent of the total) were made on the primary market. Of these, about 87.3 percent (106 transactions) was made on short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) for a total of 1.01 billion manat ($594 million). Some 58 transactions worth 146.5 million manat ($86.1 million) fell on bonds of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Finance.

“The secondary market for government securities accounted for 73 transactions totaling 162 million manat ($95.2 million). Their share was 12.3 percent of the total number of government securities transactions,” said the report.

“The volume of repo transactions on government securities amounted to 206.1 million manat ($121.2 million). In January 2021, 171 repo transactions in government securities were carried out at the BSE,” reads the BSE report.

In January 2021, the total number of transactions increased by 54.4 percent compared to January 2020 and amounted to 582.

The capitalization of the BSE on the last trading day of January 2021 amounted to 3.94 billion manat ($2.31 billion).
