Value of Iranian banks' foreign assets increase

The value of foreign assets of Iranian banks amounted to 15 quadrillion rials (about $359 billion) at the end of the 9th month of the current Iranian year (December 20, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, this is an increase of 45.9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Furthermore, the value of the foreign assets of the CBI for the reporting period amounted to 5.82 quadrillion rials (about $138 billion). This is an increase of 17.8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

At the same time, the value of foreign assets of Iranian financial institutions amounted to 9.26 quadrillion rials (about $ 220 billion). This is an increase of 71.7 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the value of foreign assets of Iranian commercial banks amounted to 1.31 quadrillion rials (about $31.3 billion) during the mentioned period. This is an increase of 151 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“The net worth of foreign assets of Iranian banks was 5.28 quadrillion rials (about $125 billion). This is an increase of 31.1 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, the net worth of the CBI’s foreign assets was 3.83 quadrillion rials (about $91.3 billion), while the banks and financial institutions’ foreign assets was 1.44 quadrillion rials (about $34.5 billion) at the end of the 9th month, the statistics said.
