Azerbaijan discloses share of household loans in total lending

The largest share of loans issued in Azerbaijan fell on the household sector, amounting to 46.5 percent as of late January 2021, Trend reports on Feb.24 citing the Central Bank's statistical bulletin.

According to the bulletin, as of late January this year the volume of loans in the household sector decreased by 3.2 percent or 223.3 million manat ($131.3 million) compared to the same period of 2020, making up over 6.7 billion manat ($3.9 billion), said the bulletin.

"The volume of loans in trade and services in January 2021 increased by 7.4 percent or 180.4 million manat ($106.1 million) compared to the January of last year, reaching 2.6 billion manat ($1.53 billion). The share of the total volume of credit investments in this sector amounted to 17.9 percent," the bulletin noted.

"At the same time, the volume of loans in the field of transport and communications amounted to 832.2 million manat ($489.5 million), which is equal to 5.7 percent of the total volume of loans in the real sector. Over the year, this figure decreased by 345.3 million manat ($203.1 million). In the field of industry and production, on an annualized basis, there was a decrease in lending by 156.9 million manat ($92.3 million) or 13.8 percent, and in the reporting month, lending to this sector made up 981.6 million manat ($577.4 million)," said the bulletin.
