Azerbaijan sees growth in Jan.2021 transactions via clearing system for small payments

Some 51,000 transactions on payments in the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) were carried out in Azerbaijan in January 2021, Trend reports referring to the statistical report of the country's Central Bank (CBA).

According to the CBA, the number of operations performed under IFRS in the reporting month exceeded 13.7 billion manat ($8 billion), which is 5.2 percent more than in January 2020.

Slightly over 5.4 million transactions were conducted in the amount of 2.27 billion manat ($1.34 billion) through the settlement clearing system for small payments, which reflects a rise in annual circulation by 11.9 percent.

In January this year, banks' receipts through high-speed money transfer systems amounted to 135.1 million manat ($79.5 million), which means a decline of 12.7 percent year-on-year. Some 69,900 transactions were made on money transfers outside the bank in the amount of 80.5 million manat ($47.3 million), which is 14.3 percent more than in the same month of last year.

Overall, in January 2021, the turnover on debit and credit cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.24 billion manat ($1.32 billion), which is 18.5 percent more than the previous indicator.
