The number of licenses issued in Iran’s mining sector increased by 7.6 percent during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through February 18, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran.
According to the statistics, 566 mines were licensed for operation in Iran. While in the same period last Iranian year, 526 mines were licensed for operation.
“A total of 1.3 trillion rials (about $31 million) was spent on exploration operations in connection with mines for 11 months. This is an increase of 28.2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, this figure amounted to 1.01 trillion rials (about $24.1 million) in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.
Moreover, 4,560 people were employed with the launch of the mines over 11 months. The employment increased by 3.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. While in the same period last Iranian year, 4,420 people were employed, the statistics said.
According to the statistics, within 11 months, 470 licenses were issued in Iran for the exploration of mines. This is an increase of 2.4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. However, 459 licenses were issued for the exploration of mines in the same period last Iranian year.
