Kazakhstan's foreign exchange reserves down

The gross international reserves of Kazakhstan’s National Bank amounted to $33.5 billion in Mar. 2021, the bank’s preliminary data said, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank.

According to the data, the value of the country’s international reserves decreased by 3.2 percent compared to last month and by 5.8 percent less than as of the end of 2020.

“International reserves overall, i.e. including the foreign currency denominated assets of the National Fund ($57.1 billion) equaled $90.6 billion as at the end of Mar. 2021,” the report said.

In turn, the assets in freely convertible currency have decreased by 2.5 percent compared to Feb. 2021 and increased by 0.3 percent compared to Dec. 2020, which has amounted to $12.09 billion.

The country’s assets in gold amounted to $21.4 billion in Mar. 2021, which is 3.6 percent less than in Feb. 2021 and 9.04 percent less than as of the end of 2020.
