Central Bank of Azerbaijan unveils volume of exchange transactions with cash

The cash exchange operations in Azerbaijan were mainly carried out in US dollars, British pounds sterling, euros and Russian rubles in May 2021, Trend reports with reference to the statistics report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

During the reporting period, local banks purchased over $99 million and sold $80 million.

The purchase of US dollars by banks increased by 39.1 percent, while sales decreased by 64.9 percent compared to May 2020.

Banks purchased 343,000 British pounds in May 2021, which is 81.2 percent more than in May 2020.

At the same time, banks sold British pounds worth 492,900 pounds (a decrease of 8.7 percent for the year).

During the reporting period, local banks purchased 5.8 million euros (increase in annual terms of 23.1 percent) and sold - 7.4 million euros (decrease of 2.15 times).

Banks purchased 1.4 billion Russian rubles in May, which is by 56.2 percent more than in the same month of 2020 and sold 145.8 million Russian rubles (13.2 percent decrease).
