Buy/sell operations at Iran Mercantile Exchange soar

A total of 2.23 million tons of goods worth more than 152 trillion rials (about $3.63 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the last Iranian week (August 28 through September 2, 2021), Trend reports citing the IME’s official website.

This is an increase of 47 percent in terms of value and 250 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding Iranian week (August 21 through August 26, 2021),

So, 636,000 tons of goods worth more than 104 trillion rials (about $2.47 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding week.

According to the report, about 1.72 million tons of goods worth about 87.8 trillion rials (about $2.09 billion) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of IME last week.

"About 368,000 tons of steel, 4,840 tons of copper, 9,570 tons of aluminum, 120 tons of molybdenum concentrate, 15 tons of precious metal concentrate, 610 tons of zinc ingots, 1.34 million tons of cement, 200 tons of coke, 46 kg gold bars and 3,500 tons of sponge iron were sold in this section," the report said.

In addition, more than 499,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth about 61.9 trillion rials (about $1.47 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week, the report said.

According to the report, 108,000 tons of vacuum bottom, 158,000 tons of bitumen, 89,700 tons of polymeric substances, 34,300 tons of chemicals, 90,000 tons of lube cut, 3,900 tons of base oil, 1,000 tons of slaps wax, 600 tons of facades and 12,300 tons of sulfur were sold in this section.

Furthermore, 15,000 tons of various products worth 2.62 trillion rials (about $62.5 million) were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.

At the same time, 250 kg of saffron worth 28 billion rials (about $670,000) was sold in the agricultural section of the exchange.
