Lending to energy, chemistry, natural resources spheres in Azerbaijan shows annual growth

The volume of loans issued to the energy, chemistry, and natural resources sector in Azerbaijan reached 740.3 million manat ($435.4 million) by early August 2021, an increase of 31.3 percent in annual terms, Trend reports with reference to the statistics of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

In the reporting period of last year, loans to this sector amounted to 563.8 million manat ($331.6 million).

“Short-term loans to this sector, excluding the amount issued by non-bank credit organizations (NBCOs) and excluding problem loans, equaled 10.2 million manat ($6 million), of which 2.1 million manat were issued in manat, and 8.1 million manat ($4.76 million) - in foreign currency,” the CBA data said.

“Long-term loans totaled 452.5 million manat ($266.1 million). Of these, loans in the amount of 1.3 million manat were issued in manat, and in foreign currency - 451.2 million manat ($265.4 million),” the CBA said.

The share of lending to this sector in lending to the real sector amounted to 4.8 percent, having annually risen by 0.9 percentage points over the year.
